What Hairstyle Will Enhance Your Flower Crown?

Are you dreaming of wearing a flower crown for a special occasion but unsure how to style your hair? Do you need hairstyle ideas based on your hair length, face shape, and crown?

This article is for you!

As a wedding florist with experience wearing flower crowns, regardless of my hair length, I’m excited to share my expertise with you.

First, don’t get hung up on having short hair. Flower crowns are suitable for all hair types; it just takes a little know-how to style them. For long hair, consider a low bun or leaving your hair down with some curls. If your hair is short or medium-length, try adding volume with a messy bun and some hairspray. If you’re struggling to achieve volume or prefer sleek hair, opt for a crown with small flowers so it doesn’t weigh down your hairstyle.

In this article, you will discover in detail:

  • How to style your hair whether it’s long, medium, or short.
  • How to choose the right crown based on your hair type.
  • How to secure your crown so it stays in place.

In just a few moments, you’ll know exactly how to style your hair with your flower crown, so let’s get started right away.

Wearing a Flower Crown with Long Hair

Long hair provides several options for wearing a flower crown. It will depend on the style you choose (bohemian, chic, romantic, rustic, etc.) and whether you decide to style your hair up or down.

Let’s first talk about the first option: tied-up hair.

Hair Styled in a Bun

The flower crown will be perfect to complement a low bun, simply placed on top. This option is the easiest and most subtle. It will simply highlight your bun beautifully.

For this, it’s better to choose a thin crown so that it doesn’t hide your hairstyle. It will often be made up of small flowers like baby’s breath, branch roses, or other wildflowers depending on the chosen style.

For the same hairstyle, if you prefer larger flowers at the front, feel free to do so. Just make sure the flowers are placed only above your face and that there’s a discreet fastening at the back to keep the bun visible.

For future brides who wish to wear a veil, simply attach it to the back, near the bun. Here, you also have multiple options to pair a veil with the crown; whether it’s at the front or the back.

You can also create a pretty braid in the back and wear your crown so that it sits atop it. It’s a perfect way to enhance your braid and emphasize that bohemian look!

It will look even more beautiful with some small flowers woven into the braid that echo the flowers in the crown. The flowers you choose will depend on your style, but you can go for a more dramatic crown with this hairstyle.

Loose Hair in the Open Air

Depending on your preference, you can curl your hair for a soft, bohemian and romantic look, or you can straighten it for a more understated style.

For the headband, you can simply place it on your head and adjust it to fit by tightening or loosening the ribbon. The ribbon should remain long and drape over your hair for a more stylish look.

Avoid wearing a headband crown that doesn’t highlight the back of your head.

Once again, the type of flowers and the size of the crown will depend on your preferences and the theme of the event.

If it is placed on a child, we recommend securing the attachment with a clip on each side to keep it in place.

Wearing a Flower Crown with Short Hair

For short hair, three types of crowns will fit perfectly.

Fine Crown

The delicate crown, crafted with a lovely gold or bronze thread and adorned with just a few small flowers, will be perfect.

Additionally, this will give you the option to have a bridal bouquet (using the same flowers as the crown) without being overloaded with flowers.

The crown will add a touch, like a piece of jewelry, to your outfit and will bring a chic and refined element.

Delicate Flower Crowns

If you love larger flowers like beautiful old-fashioned roses, you can definitely choose this option.

It’s important that the crown overall doesn’t appear too bulky.

To achieve this, it would be stylish to work on only one side of the crown to add a floral and romantic touch. We will also use a pretty, fine wire like the first one, which will enhance the desired fullness on one side.

Headband

Finally, you have the option to wear a headband, but again, it should be very slim or designed with a more prominent feature on just one side.

It’s very easy to set up and stays in place well, but it won’t create as much of a tiara effect.

It is still possible to adjust it in the way we want to achieve a “crown effect.”

Straight Bob Haircut

If you have short, bob-style hair, your options are similar to those for short hair, but you have another possibility. You can create a small braid on each side at the top of your head, tied at the back, and place a thin crown over them.

You can also wear a crown simply resting on your head, just like with long hair. However, for this option, we recommend styling your wavy hair to achieve a beautiful bohemian look.

Let Your Creativity Shine Through Your Hairstyle

The golden rule is to choose the size of your floral tiara based on the volume of your hair. These tips apply to all women, not just the bride-to-be! They can be for children, bridesmaids, maids of honor, or even for any other occasion such as a bachelorette party, a baptism, a photo shoot… or simply when you want to treat yourself!

In conclusion, there are many ways to pair a crown with a hairstyle, and this will depend on several factors. There are multiple ways to design them, whether it’s in the choice of flowers, the materials used, or the attachments.
