Are you looking for an easy way to make your own candy bouquet? Wondering which candies are best suited for it?

You’re in the right place.

As a florist, I love fulfilling my clients’ creative requests. Whether it’s for a romantic gift or to delight a child, I often receive requests to include candy in a bouquet, or even to create an entire bouquet made of candy!

Today, I’m going to share with you the technique I use to create delicious bouquets. The best part is that it’s super easy and quick to make: it’s even an activity you can do with kids as young as six years old!

To create delicious bouquets, all you need to do is make flowers out of candies, drawing inspiration from nature or inventing original designs. For this, you’ll need skewers, where you’ll stick candies at the end to form flowers. To make more complex flowers, you can use toothpicks, which will allow you to connect the candies horizontally. Once your flowers are complete, assemble your bouquet as if it were a traditional floral arrangement and wrap it with beautiful matching tissue paper. It’s ready to be gifted and enjoyed, much to the delight of candy lovers!

How to Make a Candy Bouquet? πŸ’

Creating a candy bouquet is a fun and easy activity that will delight both kids and adults! To help you get started, I’ve prepared a complete step-by-step tutorial so you too can make and enjoy this delicious DIY project!

Step 1: Purchasing Equipment and Ingredients πŸͺ

To create your bouquet, you’ll need to gather some materials. However, none of the items on this list are expensive or hard to find: you can easily get everything at the nearest supermarket!

During your next shopping trip, you can plan to buy:

  • Skewers, barbecue style,
  • Toothpicks,
  • tissue paper or any other nice soft wrapping paper,
  • Ribbon, raffia, twine… anything that can be used to tie the stems of the bouquet together,
  • and of course some candy 🍬!

When it comes to choosing candies, opt for soft gummy candies, as you’ll need to skewer them onto skewers and toothpicks.

🍫 Would you like to buy some chocolates? That’s possible, but be sure to keep them cool before handling. Also, be careful with chocolates if you plan to have children make the bouquets, as it’s not the easiest ingredient to work with. If they melt while making the bouquet, the result may be disappointing for them.

Step 2: Prepare Your Workspace! 🧽

First and foremost, you need to make sure you have a clean and clear workspace. Since the candy will be handled and then eaten, it’s essential to wash your hands and thoroughly clean the table where the ingredients will be set out.

πŸ‘‰ A handy tip is to sort your candies by type into small bowls on your table. This way, it will be easier to pick them out while you arrange your flowers.

Step 3: Create Your Delicious Flowers 🌸

There are several types of flowers you can create:

  • Bunch flowers: For these, stack several medium to small candies at the end of your stick,
  • Daisy flowers 🌼:
    • Start by sticking a round candy at the tip of your stick (this will be the center of your flower),
    • Next, insert toothpicks around the candy like petals,
    • Finally, attach the candies you’ve chosen for the petals using the toothpicks you just placed.
  • Simple small flowers: Just stick a single candy at the top of your stick,
  • Berries: Use candies like cherries πŸ’, stacking them around your stick at 360°… This will resemble currants!

These few ideas are just suggestions to get you started. One of the creative and fun aspects of this activity is being able to invent imaginary flowers using candy, or even trying to replicate existing flowers with whatever you have on hand!

Step 4: Assemble Them to Create the Bouquet πŸ’

To create a somewhat lush bouquet, I recommend using at least fifteen stems. Once you’ve done that, gather them together to form a bouquet.

If you want to create a nice round bouquet, I recommend trying the spiral technique used by florists, which you can learn more about in this video:

Bind the stems together with a discreet tie, such as raffia. If the bundle slips too much, you can use clear tape, which you can later cover with the wrapping.

Step 5: Elevate Everything with Beautiful Packaging 🎁

It’s time to move on to the finishing touches! For this, cut out a large square of tissue paper that is at least twice the length of the bouquet. Fold it in half diagonally, making sure the two resulting triangles do not completely overlap. You should see two points forming!

Position your bouquet so that the top is between the two points, and the bottom is along the diagonal of the square. Fold the two sides inward to create a cone out of the tissue paper that wraps around the bouquet. Secure everything with your ribbon by going around the bouquet: and you’re all set!

Step 6: Enjoy Your Bouquet! πŸ˜‹

Good news for food lovers: your bouquet should be enjoyed quickly after it’s made (within 72 hours)!

In the meantime, store it in a cool, dry place away from moisture, heat, and sunlight. There’s no need to refrigerate it.

If you need your bouquet prepared a few days before enjoying it, you can wrap each candy in plastic wrap. This way, it will stay fresh for one to two weeks!

Candy Bouquets for Your Wedding

Are you planning an event, such as a wedding, and wondering how to decorate the kids’ table? A candy bouquet is a perfect solution, and I will explain why:

➑ Candy bouquets or arrangements remind you of the other floral arrangements made for your wedding, while also creating a playful atmosphere that helps children easily identify their table.

➑ They keep your little ones safe from any dangers related to flowers (toxicity, thorns, etc.),

➑ They can be prepared in advance as long as the candies are wrapped in plastic wrap.
